Ze woont, werkt en studeert in de VS, maar heeft plannen voor een verhuizing naar Spanje. Naast literatuurwetenschapper is ze ook film-/videomaakster met een voorliefde voor het uitstervende Super-8-formaat. Ze ontving verscheidene prijzen en beurzen, zowel voor haar academische carrière als haar filmwerk.
